Garage doors are made out of separate panels that allow your door to rise and fall on a track. Sometimes, one or more panels are pushed in or out by a car or because something heavy has landed on them, such as a bike. Panels can be replaced, but keep in mind that one or more bowed panels can mean a serious problem. It’s best to have a repair company come out to look at them.
Cables, Pulleys, and Rollers
Sometimes, the cables that are used with the garage door’s pulley system will snap or fray, especially after years of use. Older rollers may not work as well to guide the door up and down and will probably need to be replaced if they are more than 10 years old.
Tracks
Tracks can fall out of alignment, making it difficult (or impossible) to open the garage door. This can be caused by wear or tear, or because something large was pushed into the track, bending it. Tracks can easily be replaced.
